WEEE, Batteries and Packaging Directives

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), integrated in these Directives, is a policy approach under which producers are given a significant responsibility for the treatment or disposal of post-consumer products

WEEE - Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2012/19/EU)

The purpose of this Directive is, the prevention of waste electrical and electronic equipment, and in addition, the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce the disposal of waste. It also seeks to improve the environmental performance of all operators involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment, e.g. producers, distributors and consumers and in particular those operators directly involved in the treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Batteries Directive (2006/66/EC)

It intends to contribute to the protection, preservation and improvement of the quality of the environment by minimising the negative impact of waste batteries and accumulators. With some exceptions, it applies to all batteries and accumulators, no matter their chemical nature, size or design.

Packaging Directive (94/62/EC)

The aim is to harmonize national measures concerning the management of packaging and packaging waste and to prevent or reduce its impact on the environment.

Action by Omron
