Compact design

SmartStep 2 has a footprint nearly half that of its predecessor, and volume is significantly reduced as well.

This means valuable panel space is saved when one or more servo drives are required.

The motor range is also compact in design, meaning the total machine space is optimised.

Extensive range

SmartStep 2 is available up to and including 750 W, meaning a good proportion of the market is covered by the SmartStep 2 range.

Two types of motor are available, flat or cylinder style, ensuring the user can choose the right motor for the application, depending upon inertia and speed.

Advanced functionality

Although simple to use, SmartStep 2 is packed full of useful features.

Autotuning comes as standard, ensuring optimum performance all of the time, even under varying load conditions.

In addition, vibration suppression significantly reduces resonant frequencies in the mechanical system.

Working with the PLC

The SmartStep 2 is an ideal partner for the Omron CP1 family of micro PLCs, or any one of the many other pulse output options available.

For example, the CJ1 series is available in a dedicated pulse CPU version, or pulse output cards can be used.

The CP1L and CP1H both have dedicated pulse outputs, plus standard instruction sets making writing position applications as simple as possible.

Simple PC programming

CX Drive fully supports the SmartStep 2 servo series.

The user can not only configure and save solutions on the PC, but in addition can use CX Drive to test run, monitor and tune the SmartStep series.
